So far this week #130

The title of this post is not technically correct. I watched all of these films at least a few months back, but my watch list has been getting longer and longer and my blog posting has become slower and slower. I am going to get up to speed though. Boyhood was such a wonderful watch, it certainly left me hungry for more as the credits rolled. Her was just brilliant and I really want to see it again. The Double was everything I had hoped for from this (a fantastic watch indeed). The Two Faces of January was sadly not all I had hoped for and I found it very underwhelming but with very pretty scenery. Under the skin was extremely disturbing in parts but a fascinating and strangely hypnotic watch. Ginger and Rosa was fairly entertaining I guess but nothing to write home about.

  1. Oh! The double was my favorite at the last film festival we attended, a very interesting atmosphere, right? Loved Her & Boyhood as well. And neither I was impressed by the Two Faces of January, only a pastime with good actors & locations :) love to read your So far posts!

  3. Her was so beautiful and I loved the double too. Gutted I missed boyhood at the cinema, gotta catch it on dvd/the film thing we have that isn't netflix but similar. Also, I know what you mean about under the skin. Even though it was utterly disturbing, I thought it was incredible and really liked it. Can't ever watch it again though.

    1. Hi Annie - oh Her was just brilliant! The music used in Under the skin added so much - some bits really stuck in my mind - like the beach scene :( Definitely could not sit through it again either :)

  4. I really loved Her and Boyhood. Under The Skin I felt... well, as I walked out of the cinema I shouted "I HATED that!" but it has dwelt on my mind ever since. I didn't so much dislike it for the film itself, as for how disturbing it was. I especially found the ending difficult to watch. I'd read lots of people on Twitter saying that it was a great feminist film but ultimately the graphic violence was enacted on the female body, as per usual. It was disappointing, to say the least.

    1. I do know what you mean. I watched it with very little background knowledge - apart from some sort of alien Scarlett in a van in Scotland. I definitely found the whole thing hard to shake from my mind - it was a bizarre watch that's for sure.
