I'm on a roll with actual great films. Films that I would actually include in my top 5 of the year. The Stag would not be one of them - this was ok but just the sort of thing you fancy watching on Boxing day while scoffing some Ferrero Rochers. The One I Love was rather fantastic. I adore Mark Duplass (ever since The Puffy Chair) and I thought the storyline was really unique. In Your Eyes was such a good one also. I got a bit excited when I saw it was written by Joss Whedon (I will always be a Buffy fangirl). Sinister was slightly disturbing in parts and still haunts me. In a World was such a fun watch with such great characters. Like Father like Son was simply marvellous and extremely powerful. I really rate the director Hirokazu Koreeda so I knew I was in for some greatness.

I also loved "In a World." I have a crush on Dmitri Martin. I liked "In Your Eyes"....that is until the last 20 minutes when it became another (ridiculous) movie :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes he is so geeky and good! I know what you mean about the ending of In your eyes - but I kinda liked it and may have clapped ;)
DeleteI loved 'in a world', it definitely made my top 5 of 2014. Also, much love for joss whedon, his version of much ado about nothing was the first film I watched this year at 3am Jan 1st :)
ReplyDeleteI still haven't seen Much Ado yet! Great way to see in the New Year though!! :)
DeleteOoh The One I Love and In a World have caught my eye on Netflix so I'll have to give them a watch!

DeleteI just watched In A World last night, how weird! Really loved it, I do enjoy that kind of quietly funny American indie film.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good one wasn't it! Yes I too love that sort of thing :)
DeleteI loved In Your Eyes, which I wasn't expecting! Such a weird but lovely story :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely bizarre but a very cool idea :)
DeleteIn Your Eyes is such a beautiful little film. I do *heart* Joss Whedon, but I wasn't expecting much from this one and was pleasantly surprised.
ReplyDeleteYes I felt the same! I'd never even heard of it when I saw it come up on Netflix :)
